BACKUP POWER SUPPLY
Unlike diesel generator sets, industrial energy storage systems provide an instantaneous response to power disruptions and can sustain equipment operation for a specified duration.
An Energy Storage System (ESS) can serve as a highly reliable backup power source for facilities where even a brief power outage results in operational, financial, or reputational losses.
Unlike traditional UPS systems based on lead-acid batteries, modern Energy Storage Systems (ESS) utilize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. LFP batteries are 3 to 4 times more compact, enabling hours of backup runtime within a highly manageable footprint.
more details below
Instantaneous transfer without power interruption
Modern Energy Storage Systems (ESS) are connected to the facility's internal electrical network via power electronics and control systems. In the event of a loss of external power, the system automatically and virtually instantaneously (within milliseconds) assumes the load. This prevents voltage sags and the shutdown of sensitive equipment, including:

  • production lines
  • automation and control systems
  • security and communication systems
Enhancing power supply reliability
An Energy Storage System (ESS) can serve as a standalone backup power source or as part of a facility's comprehensive power supply architecture. Depending on the configuration, it can operate in conjunction with:
  • diesel generator sets
  • gas piston power plants
  • uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
  • renewable energy sources (RES)
In such configurations, the ESS takes on the role of rapid load pickup during an outage, allowing the generators to start and synchronize without the risk of power interruption. This reduces the requirements on the generators' transient response and enhances the overall reliability of the system.
Reducing Operational Risks and Costs
Using an ESS as a backup power source allows you to:

  • reduce the number of diesel generator starts
  • lower fuel consumption and operating costs
  • minimize wear and tear on backup equipment
  • enhance the resilience of the facility's power supply
Additionally, the Energy Storage System (ESS) can perform multiple functions simultaneously: under normal operating conditions, it helps optimize power consumption, and in the event of an outage, it automatically transitions to backup power mode.
Scalability and Flexibility
The capacity and power of the Energy Storage System (ESS) are tailored to the facility's requirements:
the required backup runtime, critical load power, and specific process characteristics. The modular architecture of industrial ESS allows the solution to be scaled as the facility's energy consumption grows
or as backup requirements evolve.
